Romney sheep are known for their long, lustrous fleece and
well-liked by hand spinners because it is easy to spin. The highest quality fleeces are saved for handspun yarn which is made and sold on the farm. The remainder of the fleece is shipped to Bartlettyarns in Harmony, Maine where it is processed and spun on the Bartlett-mule as they have done for over one hundred and eighty years. Mule spun yarns have a soft, natural homespun appearance and texture. The process leaves the natural lanolin oils in the wool giving it a fine weather-resistant quality making these yarns and excellent choice for sweaters, hats and mittens.

We carry a wide selection of the natural colors as well as the beautiful heather colors that are made with a mixture of dyed and natural wools. The 100% wool yarn is sold in four ounce skeins (210 yards per skein) of two-ply knitted worsted weight.
